It's the end of the Edo period.
A group of young men gather in the turbulent city of Kyoto.
The Mibu Roshigumi, commonly known as "Miburo," are a group that would later become the Shinsengumi, risking their lives to protect the peace of their city.
A kind-hearted boy named Nio joins Miburo,
and through the days of battle, their bond deepens.
"In order to protect Kyoto, we must first abandon our comfort zone and move forward anew."
Inspired by Nio's words, Miburo recruits new allies and strives to expand the organization.
However, the presence of Chief Director Serizawa Kamo is threatening to create a rift within the group.
As uncompromising ideals of justice intersect, a fleeting assassination is set in motion.
